One of the last men’s clothing stores in downtown Providence has been closed for weeks. The store has not been open since early June.
Franklin Rogers Ltd., a downtown mainstay to buy a suit or tuxedos for a wedding, has been the last remaining men’s store in the Financial District.
Long gone are Briggs and Geoffrey Wolfe in the downtown area.

A Jos. A. Bank store closed before the pandemic — it is a national chain.
Over the course of the summer, Franklin Rogers posted a series of signs stating it was closed for vacation.
Now, the company is no longer answering the phone or responding to questions via email or social media. The store has been closed for approximately two months.
After being contacted by customers, GoLocal reached out to all available email addresses, phone numbers and social media sites trying to reach anyone operating the store.
One of the longtime owners Roger Lee Gross, died in April at the age of 77.
The website posted a message:
Please Note: Franklin Rogers Is Currently Closed Until Further Notice. We Sincerely Apologize For Any Inconvenience During This Time.
And, a sign in the window states:
Temporarily Closed.

The small business has had the unfortunate problem of being located directly across from the Superman Building — which has been vacant and an eyesore for the past decade.
The bright spot in men’s clothing in Providence is Marc Allen, located at the base of College Hill on South Main Street. It expanded into the former Cabel Car Cinema space.
