Cheekily Named Solutions For Common Skin Concerns Make Up Masktini

Late nights and tiresome travel as a Wall Street executive took a toll on entrepreneur Olga Parno’s skin. While men tend to be less phased by what working ungodly hours can do— the undereye circles, puffiness and parched, wrinkled skin—Parno’s decade-long career in finance drove her to the facialist and dermatologist for guidance for solutions.

After 11 years in that world, Parno knew it was time to do some soul searching about her vocation. In her case, this meant quitting her job to prioritize self-care and start her own skincare company.

Parno, who had already developed a deep interest in healthy skin from her frequent trips to the dermatologist, decided to merge that passion with her knowledge from investment banking and private equity sectors to launch her brand, Masktini. The name is an ode to the merriment of martini-filled happy hours and conversations about shopping and skin care regimes.

The Masktini Line

The full Masktini Collection contains anti-aging skin care products from a facial moisturizer to an eye cream, overnight mask and more.

“I wanted to create a line that would not be so serious, or taken so seriously,” said Parno told HAPPI of the line that was established in 2019. “I wanted it to feel less of a routine because a lot of companies in the industry also talk about routines and steps. They don’t really put the person, their feelings and self-care, first.”

Masktini products feel very much like a working woman’s BFF that work just as hard as she does to keep skin healthy and hydrated throughout the day.

Parno appreciates the immediacy of masks’ efficacy, as they are targeted treatments for myriad skin concerns from collagen-boosting to skin tone to smoothing.

Each cheekily pegged skin care product is designed to target a specific skin concern. Take, for example Hush Money. This intensive restorative crème is made with grapefruit and orange peel oils and anti-aging hero ingredients such as niacinamide, squalane, shea butter and Leucojum Aestivum bulb extract.

Often dubbed the natural alternative to Botox, Leucojum Aestivum bulb extract, or white lily bulb extract, enhances the skin’s natural defenses and protects the barrier from oxidative damage while also smoothing skin and relaxing muscle cells.

The brand’s all-in-one eye cream, Side Eye, uses glycerin, cucumber fruit water, Swiss apple and green tea extracts, biotin and hydrogenated lecithin, and other components to awaken tired eyes while reducing crow’s feet and signs of fatigue while adding a burst of hydration.

“We wanted to create an all-in-one cream,” said Parno. “I don’t believe in several eye creams, I think one can do it all depending on how you formulate it, and that’s the minimalist side of Masktini. Less products can do as much as 50.”

Side Eye contains peptides like Matrixyl Morphomics that mimic growth factors.

“Matrixyl 3000 peptide signals cells to produce more collagen, so they’re firming that area. Beautify is an ingredient created for the upper eyelid. I always wanted to address the upper eyelid because the skin is so sensitive and delicate, and it does lose the elasticity there very fast,” Parno said.

Woke Bae Whenever Moisture Spritz contains natural watermelon extract to quench skin in need of a hydration boost while marine isomers plump fine lines. It can be sprayed on throughout the day to serve as a “pick-me-up” for a face in need of instant refreshment anytime—from morning, during that 2:30 feeling or after a long day.

Masktini’s Night Ranger overnight renewal mask helps consumers wake up with a radiant complexion. Formulated with lime pearl acids, papaya enzymes, hyaluronic acid and retinol to encourage cell turnover, Night Ranger goes on smooth and is fast drying. (This formulation is Parno’s favorite).

Masktini also includes a gold brightening mask called Metal Head. Dispensed as a thin layer of iridescent gold, it can be worn for up to 15 minutes. Formulated with vitamin C and pomegranate stem cell extracts, it leaves behind a light scent of grapefruit and metallic micro pigments on the skin for a glittery glow.

For a deep pore cleanse, Masktini offers Gone Girl. It contains bamboo charcoal and pearl powders, glycerin and orange and grapefruit peel oils.

Brightening Boosters and More in the Pipeline

Recently, Masktini launched three boosters that are available at masktini.com. A brightening booster formulated with 23% vitamin C, 2% ascorbic acid, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. The exfoliating booster is formulated with glycolic, galactic and mandelic acid. The brand’s balancing booster is formulated with prebiotics from fermented rice.

Also in the Masktini pipeline is a “body typing product” slated for launch in 2024, according to Parno.

Apart from being available at Dermstore and SkinStore e-commerce platforms, Masktini is working with retail partnerships including Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Cult Beauty, Look Fantastic and more.
